I was looking on the Google Keywords rankings and
Cheesy Chat Up Lines is the most popular search term after
Chat Up Lines itself. This is surprising as the idea that people would actually want to be cheesy is a little odd!
What does cheesy actually mean? Well the dictionary gives a number of related meanings, but these two are probably the most relevant (since we aren't really talking about omelettes here):
- Something that is unintentionally kitschy, tacky, or of poor quality, but these flaws go unnoticed by the admirers of said thing.
- Something that was popular at some point in the past, but that now seems lame in retrospect.
So the key point is that a
Cheesy Chat Up Line implies that some people use the line thinking that it is actually good! Note that "corny" on the other hand means "dull and tiresome but with pretensions of significance or originality".

- Did it hurt? When you fell out of heaven.
